Gain clarity. Understand yourself. Plan your next steps.
Sometimes people know that something isn’t quite right, but they’re not sure why.
You may have struggled with anxiety for years, found everyday life exhausting, wondered whether you might have ADHD or autism, experienced burnout, or simply felt that previous counselling has only addressed part of the picture.
A Comprehensive Psychological Assessment offers the opportunity to step back and explore your experiences in depth. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, the assessment looks at you as a whole person—your history, strengths, challenges, relationships and current wellbeing—to build a clear understanding of what may be contributing to your difficulties.
This service is designed for adults who are looking for answers, greater self-understanding and practical recommendations.
What is included?
Your assessment will typically include:
- A detailed clinical interview exploring your current concerns and personal history.
- An exploration of childhood experiences, education, relationships, work and significant life events.
- Screening questionnaires appropriate to your needs (for example, anxiety, depression, trauma or neurodiversity screening where clinically indicated).
- Assessment of strengths, coping strategies and resilience.
- A structured psychological formulation that brings together the information gathered.
- A personalised written report with practical recommendations.
The assessment usually takes place over two appointments, allowing sufficient time for careful exploration rather than rushing to conclusions.
Areas we may explore
Depending on your circumstances, the assessment may consider:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Stress and burnout
- Trauma
- Self-esteem
- Emotional regulation
- Executive functioning
- Attention and concentration
- Possible ADHD characteristics
- Possible autistic characteristics
- Sleep difficulties
- Relationship patterns
- Workplace wellbeing
- General psychological wellbeing
Not every area will be relevant for every person. The assessment is tailored to your individual circumstances.
If you’re wondering about ADHD or autism
Many adults reach a point where they begin to question whether lifelong experiences may be related to ADHD or autism.
Where appropriate, your assessment can include recognised screening measures and a detailed exploration of developmental history and current functioning. If the findings suggest that a formal diagnostic assessment would be beneficial, this will be explained clearly in your report together with recommendations about possible next steps.
Please note: This service is not a formal diagnostic assessment for ADHD, autism or any other medical or psychiatric condition. Where a formal diagnosis is required, recommendations for referral to an appropriately qualified clinician will be provided.
What will you receive?
Following your assessment you will receive a comprehensive written report that may include:
- A summary of your concerns.
- An overview of your personal and developmental history.
- Findings from screening questionnaires where used.
- A psychological formulation explaining how different factors may be interacting.
- Identification of personal strengths and protective factors.
- Recommendations for therapy, self-help strategies, workplace adjustments (where appropriate) and, if indicated, onward referral for specialist assessment.
Many clients find that understanding why they think, feel and respond in certain ways is both reassuring and empowering.
Who is this service suitable for?
This assessment may be helpful if you:
- Feel “stuck” and want a deeper understanding of yourself.
- Have experienced long-standing anxiety or low mood.
- Suspect you may have ADHD or autistic traits.
- Feel overwhelmed or burnt out.
- Want an independent psychological overview before deciding on therapy.
- Would value a detailed written report to guide your next steps.
My approach
I have worked as a therapist for over twenty years, supporting adults and couples with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
My aim is not to place labels on people, but to understand the person behind the symptoms. Every assessment is carried out with care, curiosity and respect, recognising that each individual’s story is unique.
Rather than offering quick answers, I seek to provide thoughtful, evidence-informed assessments that help people make sense of their experiences and move forward with greater confidence.
